Bovada is the most widely recognized offshore gambling site serving the United States. It launched in 2011 as a spin-off of Bodog and has since become the default reference point for US players who want access to sports betting, poker, casino, and horse racing under one account. Unlike most crypto casinos reviewed on this site, Bovada is not crypto-only — it accepts Visa and Mastercard alongside cryptocurrency — and KYC is required at registration.

⚠️ Regulatory status: Bovada operates under an Anjouan/Comoros gambling certificate (issuer: Anjouan Gaming Board, license L 11549/HM, held by “HOVE MEDIA”) that expired 15 May 2024 — the PDF Bovada itself hosts has not been replaced with a current one. Bovada also cites a “Central Reserve Authority of Western Sahara” license, an authority with no public, independently verifiable registry. The site is operated by Harp Media B.V. Multiple US state regulators have taken formal action: the Michigan Gaming Control Board issued a cease-and-desist letter in May 2024 (Bovada complied and exited the state), and the Washington State Gambling Commission issued a second cease-and-desist notice in 2025 after Bovada ignored the first — Washington considers continued operation there a criminal offense under state law. AskGamblers has independently reached the same conclusion and formally blacklisted Bovada for operating without a valid licence. Treat “licensed” claims on this site with real skepticism.

US access: The list of restricted states keeps growing as regulatory pressure increases. As of this writing, the following 20 states/territories are excluded (ToS Section 2.3, confirmed in their FAQ): Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Vermont, and West Virginia. Washington State is not on Bovada’s own restricted list despite two cease-and-desist orders — the operator appears to be non-compliant there. Players in any US state should check current local enforcement action before depositing.

Bonuses & Rewards

Bovada runs separate welcome packages per product rather than one universal bonus: a 3-deposit Casino Welcome (fiat $3,000 / crypto $3,750, 125% match on crypto), a Sports Welcome (fiat $250 / crypto $750), and a Poker Welcome ($500, unlocked via Rewards Points rather than played straight through). Crypto welcome bonuses carry steeper wagering on the 2nd-3rd deposits (50x vs 25x on the 1st) — a $500 deposit + $625 bonus at 50x means $56,250 in required wagering before withdrawal. Live Dealer and Craps never count toward rollover on any of these.

Beyond welcome offers: Refer-a-Friend (up to $475 per referral), a Same Game Parlay points boost, an invite-only Mega Scratch Card, and the Bovada Rewards loyalty program — points earned per dollar wagered, redeemable for cash at a rate that improves across 6 lifetime-point tiers (Starter through Hall of Fame). See Bonuses below for the full breakdown.

Products

Bovada’s key differentiator is breadth: four distinct products on one account and balance:

  • Casino — slots, blackjack, roulette, video poker, and specialty games
  • Live Casino — live dealer tables (Evolution and proprietary content)
  • Sportsbook — all major US leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, NCAA), plus soccer, tennis, boxing, and more. Live betting available. A dedicated Esports section covers real disciplines (Counter-Strike 2, League of Legends, Valorant, Dota 2, King of Glory — 65 markets), and a separate Politics section covers election/political propositions on the same fixed-odds mechanism as any other sport — not a portfolio-style prediction market.
  • Poker Room — cash games and tournaments, Zone Poker (fast-fold format), anonymous tables, Sit-and-Go variants (Deep Stack, Satellite, Turbo, Double/Triple Up, Hyper Turbo), plus Knockout/Progressive Knockout bounty formats and themed Mystery Knockout events
  • Racebook — horse racing from tracks across the US and internationally

The casino game count is not published consistently on the site — the casino page’s own body text (“over 1,000”) and FAQ (“over 470”) disagree. Live Casino and Poker are standalone products with dedicated interfaces.

Payments

Crypto: BTC, Bitcoin SV, BCH, LTC, ETH, USDT, and Bitcoin Lightning — 7 options, still narrower than competitors offering 10–16 coins. No SOL, ADA, TON, or DOGE.

Fiat: Visa and Mastercard for deposits (bank transfer and check options also available). Credit card deposits to gambling sites may be declined by issuing banks even where not prohibited — crypto is the most reliable deposit method.

Minimum deposit (per coin): BTC 0.0001, BCH 0.001, BSV 0.2827, LTC 0.01, ETH 0.002, USDT 5, Bitcoin Lightning 0.0001 — all capped at $5,000 max per transaction ($10,000 for Lightning).

Minimum withdrawal: as low as $10 (LTC, BCH, BSV, Lightning) up to $75 (BTC), capped at one crypto withdrawal every 15 minutes. Processing time is up to 24 hours for BTC and about 1 hour for BCH, LTC, ETH, or BSV once approved. Per-transaction maximums range $2,500 (ETH/BCH/USDT) to $10,000 (Lightning); ETH/BCH/BSV/USDT also carry a weekly cap equal to that same per-transaction max, so effectively one large withdrawal a week on those coins — LTC ($180,000/week) and BTC ($90,000/week) are far less restrictive. Non-crypto options exist too: Check by Courier ($250-3,000, 10-15 business days), Voucher ($10-3,000, instant), MatchPay ($10-2,000, instant), and Bank Wire ($1,500-9,500, 10-15 business days, once per 30 days).

KYC Policy

Bovada requires personal information at registration: full name, address, date of birth, email, and phone number. Third-party identity verification may be triggered before withdrawals. Government-issued ID can be requested at any point. Accounts that cannot be verified may be closed with winnings voided.

This is a conventional identity-verification model. Players who want to gamble without providing personal details should use Jack.com or CasinoCrypto.io instead.

Affiliate Program

Available at bovada.lv/new-bovada-affiliate-program. Revenue share model:

  • Up to 35% RS on monthly NGR from sportsbook, racebook, casino, and poker
  • Up to 45% RS on casino NGR if monthly casino revenue exceeds $50,000
  • CPA deals available for select affiliates — contact management team to qualify
  • Monthly commission payments

NGR is calculated as deposits minus winnings minus bonuses. Whether negative carryover applies is not stated on the affiliate page — confirm with your account manager before joining.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Still accessible in 30 US states despite growing regulatory pressure
  • Four products in one, plus real esports (CS2/LoL/Valorant/Dota 2) and horse racing
  • 125% crypto welcome bonus up to $3,750 — highest headline in the US offshore market
  • 15+ years of operating history and payment track record
  • Accepts Visa/Mastercard alongside crypto — accessible to players without wallets
  • Bovada Rewards gives every player a published points-earning table and a clear 6-tier path to a better redemption rate — unusually transparent for a loyalty program in this audit

Cons:

  • Expired license certificate (Anjouan/Comoros, expired 15 May 2024, no renewal published) plus an unverifiable “Western Sahara” regulatory claim
  • Active cease-and-desist orders from Michigan (complied, 2024) and Washington State (ignored, second notice 2025) — real government legal action, not just a rating agency opinion
  • Formally blacklisted by AskGamblers for operating without a valid licence, with a large, ongoing pattern of accounts disabled for open-ended “verification” right after a big win or withdrawal
  • KYC required at registration — not anonymous
  • 50x wagering on 2nd and 3rd deposits — unusually steep
  • Only 7 cryptocurrencies (no SOL, ADA, DOT, TON, DOGE)
  • Live Dealer games excluded from bonus wagering
  • Bovada Rewards’ effective cashback is low in practice — well under 1% for straight single bets even at the top tier, meaningfully more only on parlay-style bets
  • One crypto withdrawal permitted every 15 minutes, and several coins (ETH/BCH/BSV/USDT) cap at one large withdrawal per week; ToS itself hasn’t been updated since January 2024

Bonuses 6/10 125% × 3 is generous; 50x wagering on deposits 2–3 is punishing; Bovada Rewards adds a transparent but low-yield loyalty layer on top
KYC Policy 4/10 Full personal info required at registration; ID verification possible
Payouts 6/10 7 crypto options; ~1hr for most coins, up to 24h for BTC; one withdrawal per 15 min, and several coins cap at one large withdrawal/week
Games 8/10 Casino + live casino + sports (incl. real esports) + poker + racebook — uniquely broad
Trust & Reputation 1/10 Expired license, unverifiable secondary license claim, active cease-and-desist orders from 2 US states, and now formally blacklisted by AskGamblers for operating without a valid licence
Overall 4.6/10 Weighted: KYC 25% · Payouts 25% · Trust 25% · Games 15% · Bonuses 10%

Verdict

Bovada’s product breadth is real: 15 years of operating history, a full poker room, a racebook, and sports betting on every major US league — all under one account. No other crypto-native site matches that combination.

But the regulatory picture has deteriorated to the point that it now dominates the assessment. The Anjouan/Comoros license certificate Bovada itself posts online expired in May 2024 with no replacement published, the “Western Sahara” license has no independently verifiable registry, two US state regulators (Michigan, Washington) have issued formal cease-and-desist orders, and AskGamblers — an independent third party — has reached the same conclusion and formally blacklisted the operator for running without a valid licence. Combined with mandatory KYC, punishing 50x wagering on deposits 2–3, and a large, ongoing pattern of accounts frozen for unexplained “verification” right after a win, this is not a casino we can recommend on trust grounds, regardless of how broad its product lineup is.
